With general manager Brian Cashman sticking to his word that the Yankees won’t sell off any of their top prospects, starting pitcher Mike Leake, who would have been an upgrade to Cashman’s suddenly battered rotation, was lost Thursday night. Leake is 4-0 with a 2.59 ERA in four starts at AT&T Park in his career.

Leake, 27, this season for the Reds posted a 9-5 record and 3.56 ERA in 21 starts.
Leake wasn’t the biggest name on the trade market, and Fantasy owners haven’t been all that excited about the veteran this season.
Since his first professional season, the pitcher with a fastball/curveball/changeup repertoire has dominated the Arizona (Rookie League) and Northwest League (Single-A Short Season) while pitching very well in the South Atlantic (Single-A) and California League (Single-A Advanced).
The Giants, who have won the World Series in two of the last three seasons, are 1/2 game behind Los Angeles in the National League West Division standings. Leake may not be a superstar, but he is extremely consistent and will come at a reasonable price as well. He has only allowed two runs in four starts since then!
Three years later, the Cincinnati Reds have acquired the talented 21-year-old for Mike Leake.
While Hudson said he could have pitched Saturday, he expressed no issues with Leake taking his spot in the rotation and said he would do what he could to help in other ways. “I wanted to give Tim a heads-up this likely would affect his status immediately. He will do whatever it takes”.
Keury Muella, a right-handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic, will join Duvall as a Red. “I hope he gets it in Cincinnati”. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Duvall played college ball for Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville before the Giants picked him up in the 11th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Despite being on the outside of many prospect lists looking in, Duvall brings huge power to the table as evidenced by his 26 home runs at Triple-A this season in 99 games.
Mella, 21, was signed as a non-drafted free agent in September 2011.
Adam Duvall, the 25th ranked prospect in San Francisco’s system, is much closer to making a fantasy impact.

Fans of the Red Sox want the rotation to be rebuilt now, not in the offseason, but maybe waiting is the best course of action at this point.
