Former Republican secretary of state Colin Powell blasted Donald Trump in a series of private emails, it has emerged.

Moreover, the former secretary of state tore into Trump as an embarrassing figure to represent the United States. In the email Powell said Trump, “is in the process of destroying himself, no need for the Dems to attack him”, according to BuzzFeed.
In the emails, Powell said he stayed relatively quiet during the rise of Trump, the Republican presidential nominee.
Powell’s emails from his Gmail account were leaked as part of a dump by D.C. Leaks, a website that releases hacked emails from USA military members and politicians and has ties to Guccifer 2.0, who some believe may have ties with Russian intelligence. There is speculation among some computer experts and Democratic politicians that DCLeaks has ties to Russian intelligence services, according to The Wall Street Journal.
“Doug and Paul claims they had a plan (turn Iraq and our Army over to Chalibi) and leave”, Powell wrote. “No further comment at this time”, Peggy Cifrino, an aide to Powell, told CNN. Powell told The Daily Caller he was unaware that his personal Gmail account had been hacked. “If accurate my privacy has been violated”.
In an interview in March on CBS This Morning, Powell said the race for the GOP presidential nomination, which was undecided at the time, had “gone into the mud”.
“That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn’t keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim”.
He did not target any specific candidate for his criticism.
Eight congressional committees have launched investigations into Clinton’s handling of the Benghazi attack, which occurred while she was secretary of state, and Republicans have frequently invoked the incident to criticize her record at the State Department. House Democrats released emails between Powell and Clinton on September 7 and claimed they showed “a detailed blueprint on how to skirt security rules and bypass requirements to preserve federal records”.
In one more brutal assessment, Powell directly asserts, “E$3 verything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris”. “She’ll pummel his legacy if she gets a chance and he knows it”. To “go on and call him an idiot just emboldens him”, he wrote.
“I told her staff three times not to try that gambit”.
Powell pushed back against this publicly, telling People magazine in August that Clinton’s people were trying to pin it on him.

“The only thing I would add is to simply say she had a private account on a public server before becoming SecState and continued to use it when she became SecState”.
