The convention gavels in at 4pm (2000 GMT) tomorrow in Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, with First Lady Michelle Obama and Clinton’s former rival in the primaries, Senator Bernie Sanders, scheduled as the headliners.
“Trump, in my opinion, is just a total menace and a loudmouth”, said Kushner, a Fort Myers attorney. “They have lost a lot of trust”, he said.
Organisers in Philadelphia say they are expecting thousands. The event will be part pep rally and part infomercial for a party still looking to heal its wounds after a bitter, divisive primary.
Sanders has been critical of superdelegates during his contentious primary fight with Clinton. Florida Democrats say the email scandal isn’t a major concern for them.
Advocates of the amendment argued that it would make the presidential selection process more democratic, ensuring that all presidential delegates are elected by popular vote.
The leak exploded on social media with Sanders supporters expressing anger and frustration that the emails appeared to suggest the party was colluding with the Clinton campaign and plotting against the senator.
But in a series of amendments were repeatedly rejected by two-to-one margins, especially after longtime officeholders said the super delegate system never swayed a presidential nomination by ignoring the popular vote. The state delegation has more than twice as many Sanders supporters as declared Clinton backers.
Badger didn’t necessarily think she’d end up as a delegate, but was urged to run by friends who saw her passion for Sanders’ campaign.
Although superdelegates didn’t deliver Clinton her victory – she also won the popular vote and a greater number of pledged delegates – Sanders has argued that they play an undemocratic role in the nominating process.
“Young people in the Democratic Party are very, very angry”, in delegate Jonathan Little said during debate on one of the amendments.
Another member of Sanders’ staff, Rania Batrice put it this way: “Everything our fans have been saying – and they were beaten down for and called conspiracy theorists – and now it’s in black and white”. Trump also opposes the deal.
Dem-NPL chairwoman Kylie Oversen, a state representative from Grand Forks, said Friday she’s “definitely leaning Clinton”, while vice-chairman Warren Larson of Bismarck said he hasn’t decided.
Clinton is set to be named the party’s official nominee during the four-day convention.
The success of the reform efforts being pushed by Sanders’ supporters could determine whether the discord seen at the Republican convention in Cleveland repeats itself, in some form, in Philadelphia. “My expectations are pretty much satisfied”, he said. US Democrats converge on the City of Brotherly Love to elevate Hillary Clinton this coming week as the party’s nominee who will battle Republican Donald Trump in 2016’s presidential election.
Carnes said Sanders’ integrity was what appealed to him, but his opposition to a Trump presidency is a big reason he is now working for the Democratic coordinated campaign in Colorado.
Melendez said she hopes to meet Democrats and leave the convention energized to campaign for Clinton.
All but one of Connecticut’s 16 superdelegates said they are committed to Clinton, as are hundreds of others across the nation, which gave her an edge in winning the nomination.
Clinton has been dogged by ethics questions – remember the White House travel office? – for decades.
Robert Canfield of San Luis Obispo, 18, just graduated from Mission College Prep and looks forward to his service as a delegate in Philadelphia.
The DNC temporarily curtailed Sanders’ access to the list in December 2015 because the organization accused the insurgent campaign of illegally tapping into confidential voter information compiled by the Clinton campaign. The Clinton campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

And in an email quoting Weaver as saying, “I think we should go to the convention”, Wasserman Shultz wrote: “He is an ASS”.
