Leaked photos of Huawei P9 confirms earlier renders

VentureBeat’s Evan Blass has published photos of the phone’s body and a dual-camera system on its rear, the latter of which looks similar to the Honor 6 Plus’ similar camera setup.

Code-named Eva, the P9 will be among the fifth generation of P-series Android phones, which (somewhat confusingly) jumped from the Ascend P2 to Ascend P6 in 2013 and dropped the “Ascend” branding with last year’s P8 family.

Huawei hasn’t confirmed its existence, deciding not to unveil the P9 at Mobile World Congress last week, but it’s all but confirmed through other recent photo leaks that the company is working on a successor to last year’s P8.

VentureBeat’s source reports that the Huawei P9 will feature a Kirin 950 / Mali-T880 GPU pairing, supported by 3GB of RAM. However, we might see 64 and 128GB versions of the phone as well.

Also at the back is a square-shaped area which most likely is the fingerprint sensor.

However, since the P9 will be available in four different variants, this one might be one of the cheaper versions since it sports a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It’s rumored to be coming out in March, and we’re nearly there – so here’s an image leak for now, showing not one, but TWO camera sensors.

Whilst we believe that there are at least four variants of the Huawei P9 going on sale, at the time of writing we do not know the exact launch time or pricing of the individual models. The Huawei P9 also features a USB Type-C port for charging and transmitting data.
