Leaked Ted Cruz audio has Donald Trump readying attack
Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently questioned Donald Trump’s ability to handle hard national-security matters, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Vander Plaats stresses it is a personal endorsement, not one on behalf of The Family Leader, the influential group he leads.
The board for the Family Leader decided it would not endorse, which means the organization’s resources, including its mailing lists or staff, won’t be used to promote Cruz, Vander Plaats told the Register.
“The past two caucus winners I backed – Huckabee and Santorum – and I love both those guys, but after Iowa they just didn’t have the infrastructure to go deeper into the race, so eventually got defeated by McCain and by Romney”, Vander Plaats told Breitbart News about his belief that Cruz can not only win Iowa, but also has the resources to clinch the GOP nomination.
“Ted Cruz getting that with the combination of Steve King’s endorsement really does give it a multiplier effect”, said Rick Schwarm, former chairman of the Iowa Republican Party. Too many Christian values voters have been split among too many candidates to make a huge difference for any single one.
“What you hear there isn’t any different from the arguments he makes in public”, Frazier said. “I don’t know if sand can glow in the dark, but we’re going to find out”. “I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down” and “the lion’s share of their supporters come to us”.
Vander Plaats’ endorsement had been viewed as Cruz’s to lose, though Vander Plaats had strongly denied in recent weeks that any candidate had the inside track.
Cruz questioned whether Trump or neurosurgeon Ben Carson should be trusted with control of the us nuclear arsenal. Cruz was cautious, saying that despite his lead over the businessman, he has no intention of going after the billionaire real estate mogul, whom he has been careful not to criticize – even during a week when Trump’s controversial plan to bar Muslims from entering the USA has been the talk of the campaign trail.
In another recording, it appeared as if Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was ripping on Americans who receive benefits from the federal government. Perkins acknowledges that – in a field full of social conservatives who Perkins see as allies – he has had a special relationship with one of them.
Reached for comment by TheBlaze, national press secretary Catherine Frazier contended “the audio actually backs us up” and argued the Times is “only interested in battles of personality and inciting Republican on Republican violence”.

“I would label him as a conservative”, Vander Plaats said of Rubio, a Florida U.S. senator. The Iowa governor added that: “Conventional wisdom says he should win in Iowa, but his record is something that shows hypocrisy on this issue”.
