Leaner Xbox One model plays for gamers
With Microsoft calling Project Scorpio “the most powerful console ever” and touting high framerate VR and 4K gaming, AMD must have pulled out all the stops to put together an SoC that can take Xbox gaming to another level. It will come with support for the 4K version of Netflix on launch and, we’re sure, Amazon Video will follow. The Xbox One S features a new design and is painted white. That’s good news for people who like to run the same PC rigs for years at a time.

Project Scorpio shouldn’t be confused with the Xbox One S, a new system that will come out this holiday.
There was a lot of huge games/hardware revealed/announced at the Microsoft press conference at E3 2016.
Xbox One S was described as being about 40 per cent smaller than its predecessor. Project Scorpio’s specs reputedly beat out Sony’s own PS4 refresh, and Microsoft no doubt hopes to capitalize on that.
Along with the 4K announcement, Microsoft revealed that the console will be able to perform at 60fps, and that it will deliver a “no-compromise” experience.
The company also introduced Xbox Play Anywhere, that allows gamers to buy a game once and play it on both their Windows 10 PC and Xbox One console.
Microsoft hopes that its next generation Xbox will help it close the gap with Sony’s PlayStation, which now leads in sales.
However, if you missed it, or want to watch it all over again, the one-and-a-half hour extravaganza is available to catch up with on demand, via the embed below.
The show was fast and furious when it came to actual game announcements. There were also several indie games, through the ID@Xbox scheme, with retro platformer Cuphead still appearing as part of the trailer run-down, even though it’s been touted for the last three E3s. The gameplay footage confirmed Frank West as the main protagonist, a Christmas setting (and release date), and that the game hasn’t lost its gift for freaky zombie-killing weapons (we particularly liked the fire-breathing triceratops mask). What’s more, the latter will be able to be played in 4K HDR if you have a rig powerful enough.

You might also say the same for Rare’s pirate adventure Sea Of Thieves, although Microsoft did their best to prove otherwise with a video of four community members failing to co-operate as they drank grog in first person view, tried to sail a ship, and then tried to avoid drowning when things didn’t work out. We also can’t wait to play Scalebound.
