LeBlanc and Top Gear ‘made for each other’
The first series of the vehicle show has just wrapped up but bosses are no doubt concerned for its future after it was heavily criticised by viewers, which resulted in Chris Evans – who signed a three-year contract last year – quitting as its host.

The Radio 2 host walked away from the show after being plagued by a string of controversies during his short stint.
It has today been reported that the Top Gear Christmas Special has been AXED by the BBC as they focus their attention on the new series and making it the best it can be.
And earlier this month, he faced a telling off from bosses over his control freak behaviour. “He is the captain Top Gear truly needs going forward, the flawless torso for the rest of TG’s limbs”, Evans said in support of Matt LeBlanc.
He tweeted on Monday 4 July: “Stepping down from Top Gear”.
Evans had previously announced he would be leaving the show with no plans to return, despite giving it his best shot.
The BBC never disclosed how much Clarkson, May, and Hammond earned precisely, but they would have been among the broadcaster’s best paid stars.
“Full steam ahead then with Radio 2, CarFest, Children In Need, 500 Words and whatever else we can dream up in the future”. Instead, Harris’s show will feature “the most exciting cars on the planet tested on road and track and driven to the limit-and beyond”, BBC America says.
Yet, conversely, the show appears to have found its fans overseas; racking up higher ratings than Jeremy Clarkson’s previous iteration of the series (via The Guardian).
And now bosses have chose to concentrate on the next series, meaning plans for the Christmas specials have been shelved.
He also paid tribute to the production team for their work on bringing the popular programme back on screen.

The Telegraph reminds fans of Top Gear that Evans’ endorsement of LeBlanc comes only a couple of weeks after an ongoing feud between the two Top Gear personalities culminated in an all out battle with ultimatums and accusations launched at one another.
