And on Thursday, ESPN gave him the chance to report for them during Game 6, making it his first Finals game ever.

When Sager told LeBron that it was a treat to be in the building for his performance, James said that it was incredible to see the longtime sideline reporter, and saluted him. “How in the hell do you go 30-plus years without getting a finals game?” That don’t make no sense!

“I’m happy to see you, man”, James said. Much love and respect. I’m happy I was able to witness it in front of these fans. “We really appreciate it”.

“Thanks a lot for entertaining me”, Sager said to James. Sager was celebrated also with the hashtag #SagerStrong on Twitter, recognizing and supporting his hard work and determination to remain on the sidelines and beating leukemia.

Sager, who has become an inspiration for many as he continues to work while fighting leukemia, made a special FaceTime call prior to his first Finals broadcast to chat with recent cancer survivor and Pittsburgh star running back James Conner. In March, Sager announced that his disease was no longer in remission and he recently underwent another round of chemotherapy.

The Golden State Warriors had taken a 3-1 lead in the finals series by Game 4, including a 33-point win over the Cavaliers in Game 2, and dubbed by many as the presumptive victors. Now the Cleveland Cavaliers will be heading to the Golden State this Sunday in what should be one of the biggest and best games of the year.

The victory marks only the third time in National Basketball Association history that a team has taken the series all the way having trailed by three games to one.
