LeBron James heroically offers to pay Dahntay Jones’ fine, which is $80

Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James is reportedly on board with paying teammate Dahntay Jones’ fine stemming from his late game hit on the Toronto Raptors center Bismack Biyombo in Game 3’s loss at the Air Canada Centre.

Jones got Biyombo with 17.6 seconds left in Toronto’s 99-84 win Saturday night.

Oh, hey, things are really looking up for Jones’s bank account: LeBron James said he’ll pay his teammate’s fine. His entire 2015-16 salary was $8,800. Based on 82 regular season games, plus a maximum of 28 possible playoff games, Jones’ one-game suspension equaled a fine that is 1/110 of that salary.

James is set to make $23 million this year and his lifetime deal with Nike is worth over $1 billion.

Dahntay Jones won’t have to adjust his personal budget, thanks to LeBron James’ generosity.

If the National Basketball Association really wanted to punish Jones, they should have hit him with a monetary fine rather than a suspension given his negligible salary.

“It is what it is, man”, Jones told reporters before the Cavs’ shootaround Monday morning, via ESPN.com.

James was asked about in incident involving Draymond Green and Steven Adams in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals and referenced Jones’ suspension in his answer.
