LeBron James hits last-second shot to lift Cavs over Nets

And so James calmly lofted a running one-handed baby hook shot over the outstretched arms of his giant defender. Obviously I’ve made step-back jumpers. I know I can go out and get mine when I need it. But I need Kev to be as aggressive as he was (against Memphis), and when he rebounds at the level he did (against Memphis), the shots will automatically fall for him. His half hook/half floater, runner in the lane to win it was the first time he could recall using that shot on a game victor.

CLEVELAND (90): James 10-22 5-6 26, Love 8-14 4-4 26, Mozgov 1-7 0-0 2, Williams 7-13 0-0 14, Smith 3-12 0-2 6, Thompson 4-11 2-5 10, Jones 1-1 0-0 3, Dellavedova 1-5 0-0 3, Jefferson 0-2 0-0 0, Varejao 0-0 0-0 0, Cunningham 0-0 0-0 0.

James and Love led the team with 26 points a piece with 10 of Lebron’s coming in the 4th quarter highlighted by the floater he hit with 1 tic left on the clock. LeBron James had 24 points, six rebounds and eight assists in a losing effort. James made a pair of free throws at the other end for a three-point lead, but Johnson shook Smith on the Nets’ ensuing inbounds following a timeout.

The Brooklyn Nets hung with the Cleveland Cavaliers for 47:59, but fell 90-88 on a heartbreaking last second hook by LeBron James. The Raptors hosted Drake Night for the third time Wednesday night with Thompson, James, and the Cavaliers in Toronto for their first visit of the season.

DALLAS – After shooting better than 50 percent from the field in the first half and taking a 52-48 lead against Dallas into halftime, Denver went scoreless in the first 8:55 of the quarter and finished with just two field goals and five points.

Said Hornets guard Jeremy Lin (seven points and four rebounds): “They definitely had a lot of second chance points, more than we want to give them”.

The 3-point record could well have fallen had Curry not sat out the fourth quarter. Williams had 14 points. James thinks he hit a game-winner with them in attendance before, but added it probably didn’t matter. “I don’t try to analyze everything”. “They don’t really care about that”.

“If we’re going to foul, we got to make it count, “Thompsonshared”.

I’m not certain how comfortable Nets (for now, anyway) owner Mikhail Prokhorov felt when those words got back to him, but here’s a tip of the hat to Hollins for having the courage to state the obvious. Love reported to camp significantly leaner and lighter this season.

“What good does it do to stay up all night analyzing it and trying to figure out how to make it different when we don’t have Kevin Durant or (Russell) Westbrook?”

And speaking of winning streaks, the Cavs win snapped the Hornets’ seven-game home winning streak and improved to 4-4 on the road. Cleveland is off to its best home start opening 23-0 in 2008-09.
