‘We all know previous year was magical, inspiring, all the words you can come up with man. “It was an unbelievable season”, said Cleveland’s all-time leading scorer.
LeBron James fulfilled his promise of re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers with reports that the star guard has agreed to a $100 million three-year deal. James has an option for the third season worth $36 million, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal hasn’t been signed yet, according to ESPN, but LeBron is expected to put pen to paper next week when he returns to Cleveland for his annual LeBron James Family Foundation.
After delivering an National Basketball Association title to Cleveland with an improbable and unprecedented run to a Finals win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors in a seven-game series, sources tell ESPN that LeBron James has agreed to sign a three-year, $100 million contract with the Cavaliers, a deal that will make him the league’s highest-paid player for the first time in his career. “I just can’t wait to get the group back together- the team, the franchise, more importantly, get everybody together, the fans”, he continued.
James’ agreement leaves J.R. Smith as the final key piece from last year’s title team left unsigned.
The league’s 71st season tips off Tuesday, October 25, 2016, and concludes Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
The day will start off with the Boston Celtics playing in Madison Square Garden against the new-look New York Knicks at noon on ESPN.
The five-game Christmas schedule is highlighted again by the finals rematch.
The game against the Warriors is followed by a return trip to Oracle Arena on Martin Luther King Day, the capstone to a grueling 11-day, six-city trip that spans both coasts and three time zones.
