LeBron James Will Pay Dahntay Jones’ $80 Fine for Groin Punch
In the playoffs, the math for deciding how much a player forfeits under an unpaid suspension is a little different: It amounts to 1/110th of that player’s total season salary.

James’s latest philanthropic gesture involves helping teammate Dahntay Jones cure a financial hiccup.
The Cavs signed Jones on the final day of the regular season, which means he is only making $8,819.00 for the season. He was suspended by the National Basketball Association “without pay” for tonight’s Game 4, and the fine is equal to 1/110th of Jones’ 2015-16 salary. [.]Jones told multiple reporters, including cleveland.com’s Chris Haynes, that his striking of Biyombo was unintentional and that he didn’t know what happened until after the fact.
Cleveland Cavaliers swingman Dahntay Jones will have to stay away from the Air Canada Centre for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Cavs and Toronto Raptors while he serves his one game suspension for his punch to Bismack Biyombo’s groin in Game 3. He’ll probably be able to find that $80 somewhere.
“My teammates have all regarded it as just nonsense, but we won’t let it distract us from what our overall goal is”, Jones said.
Cleveland just didn’t have an answer for Biyombo in Game 3 on Saturday night, as he clobbered the Cavaliers on the glass with well over 25 rebounds.
