Schooling’s win was Singapore’s first gold of the Rio Olympics.

“If somebody had told me four years ago I would be stood on the podium with two silver medals, I would have said “There’s no way”.

The longer the swimming distance for Katie Ledecky, the more dominating her performance.

“I couldn’t do it without my family”, said Carlin after the race.

Ledecky became the first swimmer to win gold in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle at the same Games since compatriot Debbie Meyer in 1968.

“She is the real deal”, says Dr. Michael Joyner, a physician and Mayo Clinic researcher who is one of the world’s top experts on fitness and human performance.

‘I have been working on that side as well and not just the physical aspect’.

Also, Michael Phelps looks to add to his gold medal haul in the men’s 100 meter butterfly finals 24 hours after winning the 200 individual medley final for his fourth gold of 2016.

“I think it’s the first time in my life I’ve ever seen true emotion come out”, Phelps said.

“That’s pretty insane, what happens in eight years”, said Schooling, who attends the University of Texas. At age 19, she’s both the youngest member of the USA swim team and its most sure-thing victor.

Then she waited for the rest of the field to finish. His consolation: his bronze medal in the light flyweight division ends a medal drought for the American boxers that stretched to 2008.

Ervin, 35, was reclaiming the title he won in Sydney an incredible 16 years ago. Then, Ervin walked away from swimming, skipping the next two Olympics while he embarked on a journey to find his objective in life.

It has completed a remarkable Olympics for Carlin who has overcome the disappointment of missing out on London 2012 to become Team GB’s first double medallist of Rio 2016. She also made history in regards to a single Olympic Games, though. She certainly has nothing to complain about after winning two golds, a silver and a bronze in Rio.

The American women had won three gold medals in consecutive Summer Games but on Friday they fell hard, losing to Sweden 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the quarterfinals. “The way she swims is very much the way I tried to swim”.
