Mar 2, 2016- Actor and athlete Lee Reherman, who played Hawk in the competition series “American Gladiators”, is no more.
He reportedly had had hip replacement surgery a few weeks ago, and had since complained about not feeling well, the gossip site reports.
Reherman played college football at Cornell and aspired to play for the NFL. After failing to make the Miami Dolphins team, he moved to California to take up a career in acting. He was pursuing a business PhD at UCLA in the ’90s when his Hollywood career took off. “Lee was loved by everyone who knew him and he will never be forgotten”.
He landed a small role on the TV show “Columbo” and appeared in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Last Action Hero”, but broke out in 1993 when he joined competition reality show “American Gladiators” as Hawk. He was briefly a host in the XFL helmed automobile shows like Forza Motorsport Showdown, Battle of the Supercars, Off-Road Overhaul, and Hot Rod TV.
The TV show’s Twitter page confirmed the sad news by posting, “It is with much sadness we inform you #AmericanGladiators star Hawk @LeeReherman sadly passed away this morning”.
Reherman’s old friend, Dean Cain, also took to the micro-blogging platform to pay tribute to the actor.
