Huddersfield head coach David Wagner said Mooy’s tackle was not worthy of dismissal in England, but would have been a straight red-card offence in his native Germany.
Monk said he could not understand how Mooy avoided a red card from referee Roger East.
In contrast, Leeds, who have won once and lost four of their six league games under Monk, slipped into the relegation zone, seven points adrift of the top six.
“We had good control over most of the 100 minutes we played today”, said the 44-year-old former United States worldwide, who has been in charge since last November.
“You can see the effort is there, but it’s not quite clicking for them”.
“But we have deserved every one of the 16 points and we said at the start of the season we would play every single game and give ourselves no limits and at the moment we have great togetherness and a very good working attitude, especially in the defence”.
“Not many chances for either team and not much goalmouth action for either team”.
Now former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn has also gone on to express his bafflement at the decision of Monk and has stated that the Whites will miss the 31-year-old’s mobility at the back.

“So we went to Sweden without kicking the ball on the first day of the pre-season for three nights really in the wildness without electricity, without a toilet”.
