Leeds United 0 Blackburn Rovers 2: Nightmare home start for Evans

Leeds have not won at home since March 4 in a run that now extends to a club record 12 games.

Both have 50% draw rates amidst their victory-free sequences and Leeds haven’t beaten Rovers in any of their six meetings since being reunited in the Championship three years ago, so a sharing of spoils seems like the most plausible outcome again.

But Leeds were unable to mount a fightback as they slipped to a fourth successive home defeat, while Blackburn picked up their first win on their travels since their last visit to Elland Road in April. We created a lot of chances but it’s just one point.

“It’s very evident whether you’re Steve Evans or Jose Mourinho that we need to get better players in”. Looking back over the brace of games that have opened his career as Leeds manager, Evans shows a tinge of regret, despite his team returning two draws in two much-improved performances.

“And if he can allow us and help us then not only will we be grateful but it will also bring a few competition in for Marco”.

Blackburn meanwhile are without a win in their last three games.

Blackburn, who are 18 in the table (one place behind Leeds), have only won two matches all season, and go into tonight’s match off the back of losing 1-0 at home to arch-rivals Burnley.

The dissatisfaction of Leeds supporters here could be measured in their second-half chants.

Antenucci’s 81st-minute shot forced Steele to save and in the closing stages substitute Alex Mowatt fired just wide as another display broadcast live on Sky ended in more disappointment for the Elland Road fans.

“We spoke about the importance of starting well”, Bowyer said.

“No matter what Leeds team is put out, and whoever is in charge, it is always going to be a hard challenge”.

Since arriving at the club he has said all of the right things and I think the fans will buy into him in that sense.

Online bookmakers NetBet have Leeds down at 31/20 to get the win, Blackburn are priced at 37/20 to prolong Leeds United’s poor form at home with a win themselves, whilst a share of the spoils is valued at 11/5 for punters.
