They have to deal with ink, chalk and White-Out smearing across their hands all the time, so it’s time to give lefties some love as the world celebrates International Left-Handers Day today.

Only about 10 percent of the world’s population is left-handed, and although there are disadvantages of being a lefty, there are also some pretty sweet advantages.
But no-one really knows why left-handed people like to use their left hands.
There was a time in history when being left-handed could literally cost you your life: centuries ago, according to The New York Times, being left-handed was seen as being in league with The Devil.
Other researchers believe that being left-handed may be a learned trait that has passed down because of its fighting advantage. According to the Left-Handers Day website, the date is celebrated worldwide. For example, in Jesus’ parable about the sheep and the goats, the sheep are placed at God’s right hand and inherit the Kingdom of God, while the goats are placed at God’s left had and are cast into hell.
But there are even worse disadvantages to being left-handed, according to Medical Daily.
That belief has long gone, of course, but there is still some curiosity regarding why people grow up left-handed. Nonetheless, modern lefties are showing just how proud they are of their handedness.
Researchers have also found that left-handed people are more susceptible to developing mental diseases such as schizophrenia. It’s possible that some of these genes are related to handedness. Scientists have been determined by identifying the differences between right and left handed people and how their brains work.
However, there are a few pitfalls to being left-handed. And according to randomhistory.com, left-handers tend to die at a younger age – nearly nine years earlier than their right-handed contemporaries.
