Leftist media embarrassed by Clinton Foundation

A USA judge ordered the State Department on Thursday to release by September 13 any emails it finds between Hillary Clinton and the White House from the week of the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, among the thousands of additional emails uncovered by federal investigators. And it wasn’t so long ago that Trump actually bragged about engaging in “pay to play” himself, acknowledging that he’d made many campaign contributions to politicians, including Hillary Clinton, because he might someday want a favor from them.

First, Trump’s wrong about three things.

Despite Hillary Clinton going on the record and denouncing any accusations of misconduct, Trump has called for an independent investigation into the matter in addition to demanding that the foundation be shut down entirely. The principals, Hillary and Bill Clinton, are simply referred to by their initials: HRC and WJC.

Her defenders: US law says perjury requires a wilful intent to hide. They describe it as a smear-job – with a cherry-picked headline number, selectively obtained by including only meetings with private citizens and excluding all the ones with public officials.

“Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas), a former district attorney, spearheaded a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch requesting her department follow up on an Associated Press report that found some of the private interests who secured meetings with Clinton had donated to her family’s foundation”.

Third, nobody can deny that the Clinton Foundation has done a world of good, especially in the field of health care – providing direct help, according to the foundation’s website, to some 430 million people in 180 countries.

The news of the pending release of the Federal Bureau of Investigation report comes on the heels of news that dozens of Hillary Clinton emails about the terror attack on USA facilities in Benghazi, Libya had only now been found after she insisted such messages didn’t exist.

But that’s history. The big question is: What happens now?

“We have gone above and beyond most of the legal requirements, beyond the standards to voluntarily disclose donors and to reduce sources of funding that raised questions – not that we thought they were necessarily legitimate, but to avoid those questions”, she said.

“If Mrs. Clinton wins, Bill and Chelsea Clinton should both end their operational involvement in the foundation and its affiliates for the duration of her presidency, relinquishing any control over spending, hiring and board appointments”, the editorial board said.

Yes, that will create a lot of hardship for a lot of people. That’s right, 3,721 pages of Clinton’s daily routine, which, taken together, reveal a surprisingly intimate portrait of the life of the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.
