LeGarrette Blount has sprained MCL

There were 21 players not participating on Day 8 of Patriots training camp, and running back LeGarrette Blount limped out of practice early with trainers.

Both Bryan Stork and Malcom Brown sat out of the end of practice, as well.

The Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young reports that Blount suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee.

What immediately reads as terrible, bad news, LeGarrette Blount’s knee injury could have been much worse.

Blount, who will have to serve a one-game suspension to start the upcoming season, projects to be New England’s premiere back in 2015. In eight games last year, the formerly undrafted Gray garnered 89 carries for 412 yards and five touchdowns.

Considering Belichick’s plug-and-play approach with running backs, Blount’s loss isn’t likely to make a big difference for the Patriot offense, especially if it’s just for training camp.
