When Ibby Piracha walked into his favorite Starbucks last Friday, he had more than just his favorite blended beverage waiting for him.
A Starbucks spokeswoman added: “We are proud that our store partner is taking this initiative to learn American Sign Language to better assist and serve her customers”.
Sometime back we came across the story of an 11-year-old girl who is battling life-threatening stage 3 cancer and whose lifelong wish was fulfilled when she was invited to walk the ramp for Naeem Khan’s fashion show during NYFW 2016.
The Virginia man revealed his regular barista asked what he would like to drink in sign language and handed him a touching note.
Piracha went on to say that the he was “blessed” to have a cashier like her.
Piracha was shocked. He had no idea the barista he saw multiple times a week was learning sign language.
The manager at the Starbucks where Piracha received the note told ABC News that while he could not comment on this particular incident or name the employee, he confirmed Piracha’s account.
“I was glad to hear someone supporting the deaf community”, he said.
“I usually use my phone and I’ll text them what I want to order”, he said.

In a Facebook post, Mr Piracha said he was so touched by the gesture he just had to share it. Because I was a deaf customer?
