Earlier in the day, the philanthropist’s son Faisal Edhi and wife Bilquis Edhi informed media that doctors had termed his health in critical condition.

PM Nawaz also expressed the hope that Allah may forgive Mr Edhi and ease his path to the Hereafter.
Faisal said that Sattar Edhi is being treated at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and that the family is satisfied with the treatment there. He has been on dialysis since 2013.
“Henceforth, the kidneys can not be transplanted”, Faisal Edhi told media.
In June, he reportedly declined an offer from former president Asif Ali Zardari for treatment overseas, saying he would only be treated in a government hospital in Pakistan.
Noted humanitarian and Edhi Foundation chairman Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away in Karachi on Friday night. Unfortunately, despite combination of new antibiotics and nutritional supports his condition deteriorated and today due to respiratory difficulty, he has been put on ventilator with intensive monitoring of his condition in ICU.
Edhi was a “real gem and asset for Pakistan”, Sharif said in a statement.
