“There are many examples in England of people who have spent huge amounts of money, for central defenders, and that is why everybody is on the market for the same players – very few players are available”.

“What matters to me is that you have 600 employees and can afford to pay them”.

“We don’t speak about the performances anymore and I think that is not right”. But despite losing Kante, Leicester has done extremely well to get two of their top-three players from their improbable title-winning season to sign new contracts.

“No, no, no. We have only to prove to ourselves that we are stronger, that we want to win, ” Ranieri said. He’s [Henry] one of them. “It’s not so hard to attract players”.

The intrigue in the game between Leicester and Arsenal today is however, increased by the transfer sagas between the two clubs surrounding Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Wenger also hit back at long-standing criticism that he is unwilling to spend the money Arsenal have in reserve.

Arsene Wenger: “We did not dominate the game [against Liverpool] as much as we would have liked in midfield, and he [Sanchez] suffered a little bit from that as well”.

“You have to ask the manager, but I feel very good and have been training for 10 days”.

In the last season’s chase down race, Welbeck gave Arsenal the last minute victor for a memorable victory over Leicester. Arsenal has few addition in the side after that and Leicester has lost their big names like Kante to the Blue part of London.

Wenger has a number of selection decisions to make ahead of the trip to Leicester, with Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud all having been rested for the 4-3 loss to Liverpool following their Euro 2016 exertions. The game was probably the contender for the best game of the season as both teams did not give up till the last.

“The challenge for them is to do well again and to show that their past year was not a one off”, he said.
