Such speculation over the Dane’s future has been fuelled by confirmation from Hannover that German stopper Ron-Robert Zieler is in talks with Leicester.

The Germany global, who said he would leave Hannover after they were relegated from the Bundesliga last season, is looking forward to life at his new club. He was reported to have had a €3.5 million release clause in his contract with his former side.

“It feels great coming to Leicester and joining the club after they’ve had such a great season”, said Zieler.

Zieler adds significant experience to the Leicester City squad as they begin both the defence of their English Premier League (EPL) title as well as a first-ever UEFA Champions League campaign in 2016/17.

The Cologne-born ‘keeper has six Germany caps to his name, having made his debut in 2011 and has also won the UEFA Euro U-19 Championship with his country.

Zieler boasts more than 200 appearances for Hannover in Germany, as well as in the Europa League.

Zieler was once a youth player at Manchester United, where he played with fellow Red Devils alumni Danny Drinkwater, Danny Simpson, Ritchie De Laet and Matty James.

Zieler; who began his professional career with Manchester United, before enduring a loan spell with Northampton Town back in 2008/09, has a World Cup winner’s medal following Germany’s triumph in Brazil nearly two years ago.
