The Leicester City fans in The Transfer Tavern are gathered around the jukebox discussing the club winning the race to sign a Championship winger. Having slipped back to within two places of the drop zone, they will be keen to move further clear of danger with a win here, and as they have proved in recent games with some high-profile successes, that is not out of the question.
Claudio Ranieri has given his Leicester stars permission to celebrate on New Year’s Eve – as long as they avoid a Bournemouth hangover.
Despite their numerical advantage, Leicester could not find a victor, as they failed to score or win for the third consecutive match.
Defender Steven Francis was sent off for Bournemouth after 57 minutes when he was adjudged to have denied a goalscoring opportunity by bringing down Jamie Vardy in the penalty area. We did 39 points in the first half (of the season) so in the second half we try to make 40 points.
For a man who’d scored 13 goals of his own this season – though not for anyone who’d watch the previous 58 minutes – it was an unexpected outcome.
Suggesting that the Foxes “were a little nervous” and “lost a few passes”, the Italian just seemed to label the match as a bad day at the office for his side despite the fact that they “touched the post, lost a penalty and [had] some other chances”.
Josh King headed wide from a great Bournemouth chance, while Jamie Vardy hit the post for Leicester in an end-to-end first half.
“For me it’s not a penalty. simon had a hard job with Vardy going for goal and he has got a clear touch on the ball”.
Vardy continued to threaten as his low effort from 18 yards forced a smart save from Artur Boruc before Wes Morgan fired a corner over from inside the six-yard box.

If Francis made any contactwith the ball it was fractional and understandable that referee andre Marriner awarded the spot-kick and sent Francis off. But the penalty by Mahrez was comfortably saved by Boruc, diving to his left.
