Leicester one win away from ‘incredible’ title triumph

With Leicester having won Sunday, victory was a must for Tottenham and they raced out of the blocks at White Hart Lane.

But Pochettino remained defiant following a game which saw his side strike the woodwork on three occasions.

“First half Tottenham dominated and we sat back and watched them dance around us at times”, he told Sky Sports.

“We had enough chances in the first half to put it to bed”.

He said: “This was very frustrating, in a game we must win”. It is football. All we can do is keep fighting.

Fletcher believes the ability to grind out results when not performing at their best is a mark of title-winning sides and he feels that is something Spurs still need to learn.

“We’re very disappointed”, he said.

“Tottenham are a fantastic team and the future is bright over the next couple of years and I really mean that”, he said.

Leicester will be crowned as champions with a win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday after Craig Dawson’s header denied Spurs the win they needed to stay in touch with the runaway leaders.

It was an evening that celebrated why the Premier League is so enjoyed all around the world.

Urged on by an animated Pulis, West Brom were content to slow the game down and they committed niggling fouls throughout, frustrating the home crowd and leading Dele Alli to lash out against Claudio Yacob – an incident could earn the youngster a retrospective ban. “We just weren’t good enough in the second half”.

Spurs were closing in on multiple goals but West Brom goalkeeper, Boaz Myhill, managed to make some fine saves, along with unlucky circumstances where Harry Kane and Érik Lamela hit the post while Christian Eriksen hit the crossbar.

“Hopefully Man United can do us a favour”.

Fletcher believes that Tottenham’s high-tempo style cost them an important win against his side, and suggested that they could benefit from adding some title-winning experience to their youthful squad.

“They want to waste time, get in front of the referee, but that’s football”. With 40 points the Baggies are all but safe for another season in the Premier League.”This is a tough team to beat and they’ve showed that in the last couple of seasons under Tony Pulis”, insisted the Belgian.
