Leicester’s title credentials on show against champions

Without Vincent Kompany City’s high line defence is highly susceptible to the through ball (see Xherdan Shaqiri last weekend) and Liverpool’s gegenpress is both unlikely to settle a team full of confidence and could leave them too high up the pitch – exactly where Vardy wants them.

THEY are the fairytale of the Premier League season but Leicester City’s players celebrated more like action men after going back to the top of the table following their 3-0 win over Swansea.

This fall from grace is not only represented in the Champions League but in the Premier League as well.

The defeat is an eighth of the season for the Blues and leaves them in 14th, whilst Eddie Howe’s side move out of the bottom three.

The 2011-12 season had seen the title being decided on the last day after Manchester City edged their town rivals by goal-difference in an enthralling end to one of the most dazzling moments in Premier League history.

Three points against Manchester City is an impressive enough achievement forStoke City, but a clean sheet against the division’s second highest scorers also deserves recognition. The return of the Brazilian from a hamstring injury could hold the key for the Reds.

One player who didn’t enjoy Arnautovic’s performance was Bacary Sagna, the City right-back all at sea when confronted with his opposite number.

Fuchs, signed by Ranieri from Schalke, has helped Leicester to conceding just 0.4 goals per game since his debut; with Schlupp in this role, they conceded 2.0 per match.

In this kind of form, Lukaku is unstoppable. It may turn out to be one of the best decisions Roberto Martinez has ever made however; the 21-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, showing glimpses of realising the potential many believed him to have at the Nou Camp. Chelsea lost to Bournemouth 1-0, while Newcastle won over Liverpool and Crystal Palace played a 1-1 draw with Everton.

Well according to the Euro Club Index (ECI) – its Arsenal.

Belatedly returned to the goals to clinch Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Sunderland and showed what he can do in his preferred position.

Olivier Giroud scored twice. Sooner or later they will start.

“This week will be the week we turn things around and get back to our usual selves…”

There is every chance Leicester could be fourth by the time they take on Chelsea, but as the league table proves this has been anything but a predictable season so far. “Can they last the whole season?”

The Foxes narrowly avoided relegation last season but are two points clear at the summit after 15 games.

In spite of all this, it’s unfortunate that the focus post-match was nearly entirely on Chelsea’s demise rather than Bournemouth’s performance. Deeney scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 30 minute and then added an assist on Ighalo’s strike in extra time to clinch top honors.
