Leicester’s Vardy has Van Nistelrooy record in sight

Leicester is now level on 25 points with leader Manchester City and second-place Arsenal, who both play Sunday.

Matt James is the only player out for Leicester, with Vardy having shaken off a minor Achilles problem over the course of the week.

Leicester are third after six wins and one loss in their opening 11 games ahead of Saturday’s clash with Watford at the King Power Stadium, with Vardy’s goals key.

The Foxes are the only team in the league who have scored in every match this season.

Although Foxes’ fans are desperate to keep Vardy at the club, here are five reasons why we think that Vardy would be better off leaving for either Liverpool or Spurs.

Vardy would prefer to have a central role for England, as he does for Leicester. Hodgson wants him to play wide on the left, a difference that prompted the England manager’s comment that the former non-League striker should be happy to play anywhere for his country.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed how hotshot forward Jamie Vardy reminds him of Argentina legend Gabriel Batistuta, report the Daily Mail. Summer signing Jurado may also find himself in the match day squad for the away game, but considering the length of his absence it would be likely to assume he wouldn’t play much part in the match other than an appearance from the bench.

He certainly divided opinion with his off-field antics, but what can’t be doubted is that Nigel Pearson performed a minor miracle with Leicester City last season.

Asked if the speculation could impact on his player, Ranieri said: “It’s normal a lot of big clubs are asking for you”. He has been in stunning form this season, scoring seven goals already in the Premier League so far.

They rode their luck against a well-organised Watford side and certainly have goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to thank for N’Golo Kante’s fortuitous opener, but once again City got maximum points despite not being at their best.

Ranieri was asked if Vardy can break Van Nistelrooy’s record. They have been modest in front of goal scoring only 10, but their defense was pretty strong, letting in only 10.

“Jamie wanted to score”.

We worked very hard and in the second half I thought we deserved to win the match, we created more chances than them’.

Kante put a blot on his copybook as he gave away a spot-kick at the opposite end, allowing Troy Deeney to roll the ball in with Kasper Schmeichel diving the wrong way, but Claudio Ranieri’s men held out for the win.
