Chelsea have won the last eight Barclays Premier League meetings with Leicester City.

Riyad Mahrez refuses to take credit for Leicester City’s rise to the top of the Premier League following his impressive display against Chelsea.

Jamie Vardy celebrates after scoring the first goal for Leicester on December 14, 2015.

After showing signs of recovery in recent weeks with four clean sheets in the five matches leading up to the visit to Leicester, Chelsea returned to the jaded-looking languid form they had frequently displayed previously.

A 2-1 win over Chelsea on Monday saw the Italian’s men return to the top of the table, two points clear of Arsenal.

Never mind that this could be billed as a grudge match between one-time Chelsea manager, Claudio Ranieri and Jose Mourinho. This means Courtois will have to stay between the posts for Chelsea and hope he can keep a clean sheet as Chelsea try to score goals. Vardy and Mahrez deserve credit for two superb goals.

“Mourniho may be “The Special One”, but it’s going to take something extraordinary now for him to save this season and hold on to his job.”

“I don’t think in this moment they can feel they are top players or they can feel they are superstars”.

“I can’t see them quite staying the distance but top four is definitely there for them now if they carry on playing the way they are”, he said. It was hard for us and then we conceded two goals that are unacceptable to me because I know one of my best qualities is to read the game for my players. I have no doubts and I think you know me well enough, three years this time, plus three years another time, that I am not afraid of a big challenge, and in this moment this is a real big challenge. Life is good.” Mahrez, whose Leicester have only lost once in 15 Premier League matches, added: “What we’re doing is very good for English football, you can see that even without big stars you can do something.

Mourinho admitted that Leicester were the better side and said: “I think they deserved to win because they were better than us during a long period of time”.

The Portuguese manager also chimed in on Eden Hazard, who left the pitch with an injury.
