Leicester’s woes continue with Chelsea thrashing

Conte was quick to clamp down on the aggression of Chelsea’s top scorer and the 28-year-old is thought to have accepted his manager’s stance after their discussion.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is delighted with how his players are taking to his 3-4-3 system and feels their 3-0 win over Leicester City was the best performance yet under his stewardship.

Chelsea handed Leicester a fourth consecutive away defeat in the Premier League, with Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses scoring.

Throughout his managerial career, particularly at Juventus and with the Italian national side, Conte has preferred a back three, with two wing-backs that can offer both defensive coverage as well as an offensive threat.

The outstanding Kante nearly netted against his former side when Costa’s rebound fell to him, but the Frenchman’s close-range effort was deflected wide by Morgan. “If someone shows they deserve to play I have no problem, I don’t care about the surname”. “Now it’s important to understand why”. “I can take the risk about this, for a yellow card or for injury”.

Yet the changes did little to put a spring in Leicester’s step and they were on the back foot when Moses smashed over a low cross that nearly crept in at the near post.

Ranieri was quick to praise his team with regularity last season, famously providing his players with pizza for keeping one of their clean sheets, but he says they are now going to have to get used to dealing with his criticism. Age is not important.

“‘I think this is the best game for us”, said Conte. Today we had a very good, well-organised team.

Many assumed that the Spanish global was trying to prevent an injury, or avoid getting himself suspended for the Manchester United clash next weekend (Costa is one booking away from a one-match ban).

“I saw this. I’m very happy, above all for my players”.
