Leicester spirit pleases Ranieri

Leicester’s winning start to the Premier League season came to a halt as Tottenham held them to a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Alli, 19, nodded into the back of the net from close range after coming off the bench, but Spurs’ lead didn’t last long as Riyad Mahrez equalise barely a minute later.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has taken to Twitter to voice his disappointment after Spurs’ latest underwhelming result in the Premier League.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, it didn’t look like it was going to guarantee them the three points on the road.

Late goals from Dele Alli and Riyad Mahrez lit up an otherwise largely forgettable draw, as Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester were denied a small piece of club history.

Shinji Okazaki – 6/10: the Japanese global striker had a relatively quiet game compared to the others and wasn’t involved in the build-up of many Leicester chances, nevertheless he still did his job fairly well and his work-rate was fantastic throughout the game.

“I remember when nobody wanted to go to Napoli“.

Also after playing in a central role (against Sunderland) and later shifting to his favored right-wing position (against West Ham), the question arises as to whether the Algerian should be played in a more laid-back or attacking position. Within 25 seconds of the restart Leicester were level, Mahrez dashing into the box to fire past Lloris after collecting a knock-down from Jamie Vardy.

That effort came against the run of play, as Spurs improved in the second half and took charge of midfield.

Nacer Chadli floated a cross towards the backpost and Alli met it with a stooping low header that evaded goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and sent the travelling Spurs support into raptures.

The goal could also be good news for his former team the Dons as they are likely to have included a number of add-ons in the £4 million deal based on certain incentives. This is the third game in a row that he has been very good. “The mistake we made today is hard to explain”. I think the draw was right. “All managers want players like Vardy, he is a warrior, he never gives up”, said Ranieri.

“We played very well tactically and I’m very, very satisfied”.

Tottenham have won three of their last five visits to the King Power Stadium. “I think everyone says that we need an offensive player but we need to be more consistent because we conceded a lot of goals last season and scoring wasn’t our problem”. In Italy they whistle all the time, maybe I like that about here!
