Leicester story can inspire Sunderland escape, says Defoe
Second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana appeared to have put the home side in control but, after thousands of supporters’ left their seats in the 77th minute in protest over the rising cost of attending matches, Sunderland struck back with goals from Adam Johnson and Jermain Defoe.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says the side can not use the Anfield walkout as an excuse for their late collapse against Sunderland. We didn’t play that well at Liverpool, maybe because Jan felt the pace a little bit.
When asked if the actions of the fans affected the players, Henderson said: “No, I don’t think you can make that as an excuse”.
In their absence, Liverpool conceded twice in the final 10 minutes of the game to draw 2-2 against their relegation-threatened opponents.
The draw will only frustrate Henderson and his teammates as the search for a Champions League place now looks set to end in failure, with the Reds sitting in ninth place in the Premier League and 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
He smiled: “Newcastle was the only exception, because I got sacked before we went out there!”
A point was more than deserved and the same could of been said when the Lads fell to defeat against Manchester City on Tuesday, but two positive performances were enough for O’Shea who praised his team-mates adaptability before challenging them to take the game to Manchester United next weekend at the Stadium of Light.
Liverpool doubled their lead just over 10 minutes later when Firmino dispossessed Billy Jones before advancing into the area and laying it for Adam Lallana to finishh with consummate ease. We were good to be honest.
“We haven’t been very consistent, especially in the league and that is what we need to improve on”.
“The first 80 minutes were very good but the last 10 minutes were not”.

“When you get players coming to a Premier League club in our position and you’ve got a big smile on your face, hopefully it has an effect on the other lads”.
