Leicester stuns stumbling Chelsea 2-1, top of Premier League

“I feel my work was betrayed”, Mourinho said, turning on some of his players before suggesting that the team overachieved last season.

The champions have now lost nine of their 16 league games and stand one point above the relegation zone in 16th place after goals from Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez condemned the visitors to another painful defeat. I wanted to show our best and we bought some good players.

“If I was a player, I’d be giving a lot more”, Mourinho said after a 2-1 loss to surprise leader Leicester that left Chelsea one point off the relegation zone after 16 games.

“Atletico is a great club, Madrid is a great city, La Liga is a very good league so why should a player who is 27 years old not think that in football it is possible to be back?”.

“I’m saying that the normal situation is when you have a contract, you wish to go to the end of the contract”. It’s worked so far this season, the boys know their jobs and their roles and we just want to continue our run. I put a target of 40 points at the beginning of the season and when we achieve this we change the target. “I want to stay, I hope Mr Abramovich and the board want me to stay”.

But he praised a brilliant all-action display from N’Golo Kante in the Foxes’ engine room and he insisted no-one could afford to buy either Mahrez or Vardy in January.

“To turn things around, I know only one way: working at the top level”, he added.

Claudio Ranieri recently in an interview tipped Jose Mourinho’s men to finish in the top four despite their miserable start to the season Mourinho said: “That is nice from him”.

“I don’t think in this moment, they can feel they are top players or they can feel they are superstars, I don’t think they can”.

While their fans may be tempted once again to pinch themselves as they take a look at the top of the table that sees them leading second placed Arsenal by two points, they can rest assured there was no fluke about last night’s result as they outbattled and outplayed Jose Mourinho’s lacklustre outfit. “A year ago was my first in a big league so it was all about experience and it toughened me up”, he told the Telegraph. At this moment, I am at your level’.

“He’s done nothing really for Chelsea this season considering what he did previous year”.

Chelsea finally began to apply sustained pressure around the hour-mark and Leicester defender Danny Simpson had to make a crucial double-block in the goalmouth to deny Diego Costa and Pedro. “It must be a serious injury because he just left the pitch and just made the decision not to go in”.
