Lennon ‘definitely’ interested in Celtic job

NEIL LENNON has said he “would definitely be interested” in rejoining Celtic as manager after the club announced current boss Ronny Deila’s decision to leave at the end of this season.

Mark Warburton rejects the suggestion that his Rangers side’s Scottish Cup semi-final win on Sunday was responsible for Ronny Deila deciding to leave Celtic and insists that his own strategy for next season will not change no matter who succeeds the Norwegian with their Glasgow rivals.

“When I came in to the job I talked about improving the team and playing attractive football and I think the last six months we haven’t had the improvement that we need”. They are also fighting the idea that, within the club structure, the manager doesn’t sign the players.

“I don’t think there has been a lot of improvement and, when you don’t get improvement, the outside pressure is going to get harder and harder as well”, Deila said.

“Some will be a little bit sad, some will be happy”, Deila said.

“My mindset has always been on coming here and get myself as fit as possible and try to get games and help Hibs in any way I can”.

He then led Sunderland from the bottom of the Championship to the top, but failed to make an impression with them in the Premier League, before an anticipated promotion challenge at Ipswich failed to materialise and he left after less than two years in the job.

“For the club to come out and say he’s going to finish at the end of the season is a surprise as it’s normally a case of lose the derby and you lose your job”.

“I would like Roy Keane to get it because I think he would sort a lot of people out”, stated Nicholas, on a day when Keane hinted he is ready to make a return to full-time management.

“Of course IÂ’d tell him to take it if he asked me about it, ” said Deila.

David Moyes is the bookmakers’ favourite to be the next manager of Celtic.

“I am delighted that they have done it the way they have done”, he said. Other names that bookies are casting odds for are former Liverpool man Brendan Rodgers who has spoken of his love for Celtic over the years. The defeat on penalties was the latest lapse in a big game, the final straw which made his position untenable.

O’Neill is under contract with the IFA for the next four years and any club who want him would have to pay a reported £750,000 in compensation.
