Lady Gaga walked away with the statue for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture for Television on Sunday for her role on American Horror Story: Hotel, beating out Fargo star Kristen Dunst, Bessie lead Queen Latifah, American Crime’s Felicity Huffman and Flesh and Bone newcomer Sarah Hay.
People started to speculate that DiCaprio threw shade at GaGa when the 41-year-old actor gave the gaze at the singer. DiCaprio said when ET Online informed him how the moment had gone viral. After realizing the video and story were trending, The Revenant star told Entertainment Tonight, “Oh, Lord, that’s trending?”
“We were laughing about that afterwards”, the actor answered. I actually had no idea who was passing me or what was going on, but that was a amusing little bit that went around… we were laughing at it at the after party!’
He continued, “It’s wonderful what goes viral these days, I guess I’m of a different generation now. I have no idea where this stuff comes from or how it’s even captured!”
DiCaprio thanked film director Alejandro Iñárritu and co-actor Tom Hardy whom he said he knows “in real life would never bury me alive and leave me out in the cold to die like that”. “They all partied there all night long and laughed it off. Leonardo said that this was the last time he would drink before the award show”.
But he wants you to know that he wasn’t offended by Gaga’s presence or anything – he just straight-up didn’t didn’t understand what was happening to him.
