Sometimes the Golden Globes really do recognize good work, and America Ferrera and Eva Longoria can have fun calling out Hollywood’s institutional racism, and Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer can goof around for a few minutes onstage and it feels like the world is a nicer place.
The Revenant used hundreds of First Nations people from several reserves for the film which was shot in several locations in Alberta and B.C.
In Supporting categories on the other hand, the Globes are much better at picking men than women – getting Best Supporting Actor right 72% of the time, but only correctly predicting Supporting Actress 60%!
Director: Alejandro Inarritu, “The Revenant”. Although the event will air live on NBC, red-carpet interviews will take place outside of the Beverly Hilton as soon as stars attending the event begin to arrive, which is typically around 7 p.m. Willie Geist, Savannah Guthrie, Matt Lauer, and Tamron Hall each have the privilege of hosting the pre-show.
While, the Golden Globe Award for the best-supporting actress in a feature film went to actress Kate Winslet.
In what may have been the worst Golden Globes awards show ever, LGBT fans were dealt a double blow as the biggest LGBT awards contenders missed out on the big prizes.
Ridley Scott’s sci-fi hit The Martian was named best comedy or musical film, which allowed the director to joke that he expected to receive that honour posthumously, and its star Matt Damon picked up the best actor award in that category.
“This is the most hard journey I’ve embarked on”, said Inarritu, who past year won directing and best picture Oscars for “Birdman”. The nominations for the awards were announced earlier on December 10, 2015.
In remarks after the awards, Leo said he meant no disrespect to the pop star, saying: “I just didn’t know what was passing me – that’s all”.
Other key winners included Sylvester Stallone, 69, who received a standing ovation as best supporting film actor for reprising his iconic role as boxer Rocky Balboa in “Creed”.
Feinberg pointed out that while there was unanimous agreement on DiCaprio’s Oscar chances, the Globes could not be considered a bellwether for the Academy Awards overall, leaving the race wide open.
Brie Larson was named best actress in a drama for The Room, while Jennifer Lawrence won best comedy actress for Joy. Ronan was nominated for best actress at the Golden Globes.

Taraji P.
