Leonardo DiCaprio wins Oscar, the World Rejoices

DiCaprio’s clearly ready to be a father, considering the way he gazed at his Academy Award being engraved last night.

He, like the other winners, promptly headed over to the engraving station to have his name placed on his Oscar. DiCaprio was among the few who opted out of a scroll.

Host Chris Rock did not shy away from the diversity issues plaguing this year’s awards and opened the ceremony by declaring Hollywood is “racist” and admitting he considered boycotting the ceremony because of the absence of black nominees.

“We made this film for all the journalists who have and continue to hold the powerful accountable, and for the survivors whose courage and will to overcome is really an inspiration to all”, said Tom McCarthy in his best original screenplay acceptance speech for “Spotlight”.
