Les Miles Should Remain LSU Tigers Football Coach

If the reports are true, and guys like Scott Rabalais of The Baton Rouge Advocate and Tommy Krysan of Pelican Sports Network are respected and trustworthy, then it would seem Les Miles will coach the LSU Tigers once more, when they host Texas A&M this Saturday. “He hasn’t addressed us about it”, said Louis, who met with reporters in the afternoon session of interviews before Miles met with players at 3 p.m. “Either I don’t reply or I tell them, ‘I don’t know.’ I’m pretty sure they’ll find out anything before I do”.

After LSU dropped their third straight game in a loss to Ole Miss on Saturday rumors have circulated about the dismissal of Les Miles as head coach.

At LSU where reports today say that AD Joe Alleva has the boosters willing to pay Miles’ $15-million buyout if necessary, the “Mad-Hatter” has always been an enigma. This season, it is now 10-1 with the head coach having a shot at winning his ninth conference championship and a chance to advance to the College Football Playoff. Mike Gundy, head coach, Oklahoma State It worked out well the last time LSU took a head coach from Oklahoma State, and Gundy appears ready for a next-step job. LSU played in the BCS national championship game in 2011 but lost to Alabama.

“I have no comment on that”, Fisher said. At age 62, he should have at least a few more good seasons left in him and plenty of interest around the country. He is under contract through 2019.

“I don’t ever want to speak [about openings] because I think it’s so unprofessional and disrespectful to do those things”, Fisher said. From 2010 to 2012, the football team had a 32-8 record with two bowl wins, In 2013, it was 11-2 with a major bowl victory, but in 2014, it slipped to 8-4 and got beat in a second-tier bowl game by 34 points. He said Miles is a father figure to all of the players.

Plus, with Nick Saban’s Alabama program running roughshod in recent years, it would make sense for the Tigers to try to answer with a coach who operates his program in much the same fashion.

“What is the future is to me after the Texas A&M game, great games to be played at Tiger Stadium”. With the way he ran the football in the first half of the season and a defense that should surely improve, LSU can still contend for championships – both conference and national – under Miles. “And if someone asks you in recruiting, to me, I look at it as a positive”. Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long, who previously worked in Michigan’s athletic department when Miles was there, conducted that coaching search.

If LSU decides to go through with the buyout and move on from Miles, they need a high-profile coach to take his place. After the loss to Ole Miss, Miles insisted that he did not feel like he was in danger of losing his job.
