Leslie Jones’ Website Hack Is Being Investigated By Homeland Security

A spokesperson the the FBI’s NY field office told The Hollywood Reporter that all inquiries regarding the hacking should be directed to Homeland Security. The website also reported that the hackers placed a video of the gorilla Harambe atop her page.

The horrifying hack of Leslie Jones’ website is being investigated by Homeland Security, which means at least someone cares that this is happening.

Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, and Nia Vardalos were some of the other celebrities to share their outrage on social media, even using the hashtag #StandWithLeslie.

Jones was recently invited by NBC to Rio to serve as a special correspondent after enthusiastically tweeting about the Olympics.

According to the Radio Times, private photos stolen from her iCloud account, copies of her driving license and passport, her phone number and Twitter password were all published on the Tumblr site. In the hack of Jones’ website, references were made to that scandal, indicating it was carried out by his followers.

“The investigation is now ongoing”, the agency told TIME in a statement.

In the hours after Ms. Jones’s site was taken offline, high-profile defenders offered public support.

Internet trolls have recently targeted Jones, flooding her Twitter account with racist messages and images. It receives racist comments, so much that she chose to temporarily leave the social networks.

In a statement to THR, Yiannopoulos responded: “I’m distressed to hear that Leslie Jones has been hacked and naked pictures of her have been posted online”.
