Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed on Wednesday claimed at a rally in Pakistan that a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was leading processions in Kashmir for Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, who was killed in an encounter in Srinagar.
A prominent Kashmiri leader has called for resolving the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan on the basis of principles of self-determination, saying the region was “not real-estate that can be parceled out” between the two countries.
“Have you seen the pictures of procession when lakhs of Kashmiris came to the streets? He is an “ameer” of Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT)”, Hafiz Saeed said.
Attacking the Indian media, he said, “The media keeps showing my pictures on TV while screaming Bombay, they will gain nothing by doing so”.
The letter, headlined “Kashmir Has Its Own Identity” was in response to a July 22 editorial in the Times, which said that the unrest in Kashmir was “a major setback forpeace in the long-troubled region claimed by both India and Pakistan”.
Saeed has recently said that a LeT militant was leading the procession held in Kashmir after Wani’s killing.
He added that several people from Faisalabad had gone to Kashmir to “lay down” their lives facing the Indian security forces.
Reiterating Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech, he said, “Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir and by God’s grace, Kashmir will become a part of it someday”.
“Since a large number of terrorists neutralisation has taken place, the terrorist organisations based in Pakistan are now increasing their efforts to promote radicalisation through vested interest groups and social media and increase the attack on the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir forcing them to retaliate and give it a shape of civil resistance”, he said replying to a written question.

“One day the world would witness India splitting into pieces”, he added.
