The iconic singer’s death comes just days after the release of his 29th album, Blackstar, which coincided with his 69th birthday on January 8.
With no official comment available, Bowie’s place of death remained a mystery, as did funeral arrangements.
The 54-year-old covered his 1974 hit, Rebel Rebel, while a montage of images of Bowie flashed up on the screen behind her.
“Naturally, we wish to honour his extraordinary life and work at the forthcoming BRIT Awards and pay a fitting tribute to one of our greatest icons”.
Tony Visconti, who worked with Bowie on many of his albums, was another who knew the singer was ill.
“The Music of David Bowie” was originally supposed to be a tribute show, but will now be a memorial. Tickets are already sold out.
“I was trying to think of something amusing to say, but it just wouldn’t come out right, so I’m just going to email you, David Bowie, and if you check your e-mail in space or heaven or wherever you are, you don’t have to e-mail me back”, he added. We are all deeply saddened at this news, the timing of our public on-sale weird in its timing, and the show is taking on many more emotions.
“Because I can’t believe it. God, what do you want?” Perhaps Bowie’s funeral will be something to this effect, but we’ll have to wait for the actual details to see.
“He was amusing, charming, sweet, and very David Bowie”. In Bowie’s hometown of Brixton, London, fans celebrated his life and music in a moving tribute from crowds of hundreds and hundreds of people.
Talking to fellow house mates about her decision, she said: “I’d prefer to be here but I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t”.

Describing himself as a Bowie “superfan”, George recalled how excited he was when, during an internet talk with his hero, Bowie remembered meeting him previously. Of course, at the time of the album being released, we had no reason to believe that Bowie was so seriously sick he would pass away just days later.
