Let the cow protectors feel the full force of the law

In a separate incident, vigilantes attacked two Muslim women who were allegedly carrying beef in Madhya Pradesh state in central India.
“There are some people who are running shops in the name of cow protection”.
Cows are considered sacred by Hindus and killing them is banned in most Indian states. “If you want to shoot, shoot me”. “This game should stop”, he said addressing BJP workers here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi voicing concerns over incidents of cow vigilantism and anti-socials turning gau rakshaks has not gone down well with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which has reacted strongly to the PM’s statement.
Although the inaugural events had no connection with cow protection, Modi steered his speech towards farming and the importance of cows. He said dalits has power to change the country and people can not forget their contribution to the independence of India. Notwithstanding Modi’s criticism of the vigilantes, the opposition termed it as “absolutely humbug”, alleging that his ideological co-travellers were perpetrating “terror” in the name of cow protection.
Mr Modi was similarly criticised a year ago, when he took two weeks to condemn the lynching of a Muslim man over rumours he had stored and consumed beef. “We have to protect the marginalised & Dalits, It is our duty”, he added.
“In the past 40 years of my political career, whether one believes it or not, this is the first time I am witnessing a corruption-free government at the Centre”.
CPI leader D Raja also criticised the ruling dispensation, stating there are issues on which people expect the PM to speak, including increasing atrocities against Dalits.
