Lexus LF-FC concept unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show
Lexus calls the LF-FC’s look an updated version of its L-finesse design language, with an “evolved” spindle grille with a new mesh design.

But was it ever in the limelight?
The Lexus concept also integrates gesture controls, something BMW introduced in its 7 series full-size sedan earlier this year. Created to preview the Japanese marque’s next-generation LS luxury sedan, the auto is actually longer than a long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class so we just had to check it out in the flesh.
The Lexus LF-FC Concept has been unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show which provides us with an inkling of what the upcoming Lexus LS will be like. The “floating” L shaped daytime running lights makes things all the more interesting at the front, it must be said. The fuel cell itself is mounted at the rear and drives the rear wheels as well as two hub-mounted electric motors in the front wheels that give the vehicle all-wheel drive.

Unlike the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirari, which has its fuel cell mounted under the bonnet in place of a conventional engine, the LF-FC has its fuel cell at the rear of the auto sending power to the rear wheels. When seen at eye level, the front seats seem to be floating.
A simultaneously futuristic and classical design stands out in the LF-FC’s interior, with wood, leather and satin silver highlights featuring throughout.
In keeping with Lexus’ push to shed its stodgy image, the LF-FC, like most recent concept and production Lexuses, has more daring sheet metal.

The LF-FC’s cockpit is meant to convey a sense of openness, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road and rear-seat passengers to relax and recline. The study also expresses the company’s “progressive luxury and high-tech vision of a not so distant future”, according to Tokuo Fukuichi, Lexus global President. And while a few of its technology features can be dismissed as show-car nonsense, other elements of the auto, like its fuel-cell powertrain and autonomous driving systems, have a good chance of making it to the production LS that’s expected to arrive within the next year.
