LFF Premiere Interviews: Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren & John Goodman on Trumbo
Dame Helen Mirren has revealed she is “scared to s**t” of celebrity journalists, despite playing one in her new film. It happened in the United States and this man went to prison for almost a year without committing a crime.

With her impeccable manners and haute-couture wardrobe, Hopper makes a formidable “red” hunter.
“I don’t really like the word “beauty”. I wish we could find another word that takes it away from physical beauty and brings it more into the world of true attractiveness”.
The 70-year-old said “Trumbo” was a “story about the fearful power of the press and how it can be misused”.
John has been open about his weight struggles in recent years and spoke candidly about his fears for his health in 2010.
But Trumbo’s obstinacy and talent, fuelled by whisky and cigarettes, saw him craft a few of his greatest works during that time, that were either signed off by friends or written under a pseudonym.
To take the role of writing a script on the life of a screenplay writer which documents his fight against the industry through his Academy Award-winning masterpieces poses to most a daunting Inception-esque prospect.
“I think it’s the best form of humour, not based on jokes but the absurdity of human behaviour”, said Mirren.
Joining Mirren and Cranston on the red carpet in Leicester Square were Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and John Goodman, whose turn as a sardonic studio exec sees him no less gloriously foul-mouthed than in Argo. It’s an unlikely match at first glance, but John McNamara’s witty script pokes fun at this embarrassment in Hollywood’s past, while Roach is careful to let the cautionary message speak volumes in a biopic that’s often breezily comedic.

Cranston also said there is a “self-imposed” blacklist that continues to exist in Hollywood today, c iting the example of Mel Gibson, who was accused of abusive behaviour towards his Russian ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva and has also been involved in allegations of anti-semitism and homophobia.
