LG Announces “Super UHD” TV Lineup
LG is playing television superhero at CES 2016, announcing it will showcase a premium line of 4K Ultra HD TVs that it’s dubbing “Super UHD”. The UH7700 models, in sizes ranging from 49 to 65 inches, will make up the entry-level Super UHD series.

“We’re confident our newest HDR-enabled SUPER UHD TVs in 2016 will generate much excitement not in the industry, but also with consumers in general”. With True Black Panel, the screen minimizes reflections and enhances the contrast ratio. HDR Plus boosts 4K picture quality, whether from an HDR source over HDMI, or through LG’s SDR-to-HDR conversation engine.
LG’s 98-inch 8K Super UHD TV (UH9800) first made an appearance as a prototype before, but now the television is production-ready.
All three of the aforementioned Super UHD TVs will feature what LG now calls Flat Ultra Slim design. Both the UH8500 (55 to 75 inches) and UH9500 (55 to 86 inches) series from LG has been featured with filters and LCD phosphors to reach about 90% of the Digital Cinema Initiative’s expanded color range. Now, LG is pushing even further with its new line of “Super-UHD” Televisions. “We are the only company with a dual strategy focused on both OLED and IPS TV technologies and this is proof that we are not prioritizing one display over the other”, said Brian Kwon, President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. The UH 7700(49 -65 inches) which is a lower end model along with the other two options also claim to have a “true Black” panel which improves contrast and cuts out glare, in addition to a Contrast Maximiser option – or, at least, what it claims to come with. So if you have 4K HDR video content then you will be able to distinguish between the lightest light and darkest dark on these TVs. The UH7700 offers Color Prime, Billion Rich Colors, Ultra Luminance, and Contrast Maximizer features, but housed in a slightly different design configuration. UH9500 is expected to be just 6.6 mm thick with the borders around the TV to be nearly invisible, creating a “floating in air” look, according to the source above. LG worked with high-end audio pioneer harman/kardon to develop a speaker system that could deliver high quality, detailed sound.
WebOS 3.0: The announced products will presumably run with the latest Web S 3.0 Software. For more information, please visit www.LG.com.

It’s only been a few years since the introduction of 4K, which donned four times the resolution of regular high definition screens.
