LG: Faulty display component led to cancellation of Watch Urbane 2nd Edition

The company hasn’t given any details on the nature of the component involved or what its objective was. “However, what we can share is that the hardware issue was related to a new advanced component that we had incorporated in the device that had never been used in an LG wearable device before”, LG said in a statement. Now, Telegraph has obtained a statement from LG in which the company reveals the hardware issue plaguing its LTE-capable watch relates to the display. LG Electronics has not revealed when the problems will be fixed.

The cancellation of the smartwatch also pose a setback to Google as the LG Urbane Second Edition smartwatch was being marketed as the first Android Wear smartwatch with cellular connectivity for placing and receiving calls even if the user’s phone isn’t on hand. Also, LG made it clear that it has no plans to re-introduce the device for now and will take a decision on that sometime in the future. The company said that the reason for the cancellation wasn’t any safety issue but rather an issue in which the user experience could be negatively affected. AT&T retail stores and customers who bought the latest LG smartwatch have been informed that they will receive a full refund.

The manufacturer knows that tech experts are now examining its newest smart watch, but delayed tests in the assurance procedure for the second edition of Watch Urbane have shown that there is a hardware complication affecting the daily performances of the system. The LG watch is really appreciated and customers who own this device seem to love it. The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE was supposed to feature a 480×480 P-OLED display. It has a 480 x 480 pixel resolution which is, so far, the highest that a smartwatch ever had. It has 4GB of internal storage, a 768MB RAM and it is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor.

Although many users and fans of LG might be upset, the fact is that if there is an issue with the device, LG did perfectly well to acknowledge it and remove the product from the market. Of course, the famous company is expected to issue an explanation for its decision in the following days.
