Following market trends and responding to consumer demands, Motorola recently announced an update to the operating system of its Moto X Pure Edition to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

There are also other devices that received the approval to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update such as: Moto MAXX (2014), Moto Turbo (2014) and the Droid Turbo.

Since the open source code is available for download it means official update shouldn’t be too far away. For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with it, the LG G3 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display (1440×2560 pixels), runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2/3 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 128 GB), a 13 MP main camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

Owners of the Motorola handsets can check if an update is ready for their devices by going to Settings and then going to Software Update.

The Canadian version of the HTC One M9 will get its first taste of Android 6.0 Marshmallow next year. While the Nexus series has already started receiving the Android 6.0.1 OTA, the LG G4 is yet to receive the Android 6.0 update. However, keep in mind that even if Marshmallow will start its journey on the G3 by the end of the week, not every G3 variant out there will receive the update at the same time. Product Manager Mo Versi has confirmed on Twitter that handsets in Canada will be updated “early next year”.

The handset maker has yet to release its official word to verify the veracity of this leaked update roadmap. Three more flagship models from the South Korean tech giant, the Samsung Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge and the S6 Edge+ are also geared up to receive the update in January 2016.
