LG G7/G7+ ThinQ flagship phones launched

Renders and specifications of the smartphone have been leaked earlier, and now new details have emerged just hours before the launch, citing an official press release from LG that was obtained early. In case you don’t know, LG introduced “ThinQ” at the CES 2018 to identify all of LG’s home appliances, consumer electronics, and services that utilize artificial intelligence. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with a dedicated button for the Google Assistant, like the Bixby on the Samsung.

LG revealed its latest smartphone, the G7, an addition to the ThinQ family, with functions that promise brighter photography and enhanced AI. The LG G7 ThinQ is basically an evolution of the LG V30 and V30S ThinQ. LG has launched its new flagship smartphone with an unusually long name that might put some people off. In line with the current trend, the front is dominated by a full-screen display with a notch at the top. If you’re not feeling the notch, you can hide it by blacking out the status bar. The power button is now on the right side and it now more acts a fingerprint scanner. Sprint and US Cellular have announced that the LG G7 ThinQ will become available on June 1, while Sprint also said that you will be able to pre-order it starting on May 25. It is worth noting that you can not customise this dedicated Google Assistant button yet. For one, the device comes with what is called a “Boombox Speaker”, which essentially uses the inner space as a resonance chamber to “amp up the bass and deliver a premium, loud and room-filling audio experience”. In a market where the 3.5mm headphone is being seen less on smartphones, it exists on the LG G7 ThinQ.

The dual cameras at the back can shoot clear pictures at night, and as in past LG devices, can take wide angle photos.

There are 19 shooting modes for the G7 ThinQ, all powered by AI that can intelligently detect what you’re taking a photo of to get you in the ideal mode for the flawless shot. Plus, the AI algorithm adjusts the camera settings automatically when shooting in low light so you don’t have to worry about it. And hence, the aspect ratio of the display is 19:5:9. The display also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The display is the most exciting thing about the G7 ThinQ. The modes include Auto, Eco, Cinema, Sports, Game, and Expert. Yes, LG has joined the notch train. There’s also the LG G7+ ThinQ version that offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The folks over at Mobilesyrup have published to Slashleaks a variety of new images that, they say, showcase the LG G7 ThinQ in all its glory.

The handset also uses Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 platform which brings with it Wifi 802.11 ac, and Quick Charge 4+ support.

The glass back enables wireless charging with the G7 touting both WPC and PMA support. The primary camera is a standard one with a 71-degree FOV and f/1.6 aperture. On the front it has an 8-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture. The Portrait Mode generates professional looking shots with out-of-focus backgrounds. Firstly, the device has a dedicated button below the volume rockers which launches the Google Assistant with a single tap and Google Lens with 2 taps. Tapping it once will launch Google Assistant while a double tap will launch Google Lens.
