LG launches Hi-Fi music service

The high fidelity music service will offer music at 24-bit/192KHz, which is “close to the original sound” of a track prior to its compression.

The service is designed especially for LG smartphones with 24bit music playback capabilities, which include the LG G4, G3, G3 and G Flex 2.

For the life of me, I can not understand why companies like LG, who aren’t exactly raking in massive profits from their smartphone sales, are wasting precious time and money on pointless nonsense like this.

The service doesn’t have a specific name, but users can select “hi-fi” as a category on the LG SmartWorld site.

Only a few LG phone models can enjoy the Hi-Fi Music Service in more than 70 countries all over the world. LG doesn’t say anything about streaming, so it appears that this won’t be a streaming service. Qualifying customers will be able to download two free Hi-Fi tracks each month with the option to purchase songs at up to 50 percent off the regular price.

“Our Hi-Fi music service reflects our ongoing commitment to providing additional customer benefits to loyal LG customers”. LG’s Hi-Fi music service is supported to those devices which are compatible with 24-bit/192KHz audio tracks.

The high quality playback will be at 24bit/192kHz. Moreover, there’s no information on whether the music service will be available to Indian consumers or not.
