Let us now dive straight into features and specifications of the LG G6. Compared to the LG G5, the LG G6 offers a bigger and better display, improved audio quality, an interesting camera setup, better protection from accidental drops and slips, and a faster software. Normally most 5.7inch smartphones are hard to operate with one hand but with the LG G6 the story is different. The display offers a a 18:9 “Univisium” aspect ratio, dedicated to deliver theatrical standard media viewing experience.
Other new features include the ability to make collage of photos taken from the phone and set it up as your lock screen wallpaper, and an updated calendar app that takes advantage of the 18:9 display. It’s created to make the best use of the 18:9 aspect and relies heavily on squares – after all, there are effectively two 1:1 squares in a 2:1 display, right?
In essence, Univisium eliminates the need to make different format “prints” to suit TV, theatre, smartphones, and other display devices while still using 35mm or 65mm original film stock and equipment. The LG G6 ends up with around 78 percent body-to-screen ratio, which is not half bad.
The LG G6 flaunts a 5.7-inch QHD+ (2,880 x 1,440 resolution) FullVision display, and for the first time ever in a smartphone, an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. The screen also supports Dolby Vision HDR, allowing better contrast and more vivid colors when watching HDR video. The smartphone also comes with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
Coming to its cameras, the LG G6 features two 13 megapixel camera sensors at the back, including a 125-degree lens on the wide angle, and a 5 megapixel front camera.
The LG G6 comes with Google Assistant. Believe it or not, the G6 actually has a bigger screen.
One of the things about Google’s Pixel phones that used to be exclusive was their inclusion of the search giant’s most powerful A.I. -driven assistant to date, dubbed the Google Assistant. LG has adopted a rounded square design for its icons to be more streamlined to the design.
With the increase in the visual range, LG G6 users will surely find taking a group selfie hassle free, even if he/she as a short arm. The size is 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm. There is a 5MP front facing camera which has a 100-degree field of view which provides wide-angle selfies. Under the hood, the LG G6 has a Snapdragon 821 SoC that is paired with a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and an Adreno 530 GPU.
The LG G6 was officially revealed in Barcelona today, and as expected, the device is all about its screen.
