LG’s Rumored ‘White Card’ Looks Like Another Smart Card Disappointment
Samsung, Apple and others have jumped into the wild world of mobile payments and LG is set to join the fray with LG Pay. It’s a credit card-sized plastic that can process payments from any credit, debit, or bank accounts of the user. We learned then that it would be different from the Apple Pay and Samsung Pay because the LG Pay would work on not just a specific model or series but on all LG phones. Considering it’s a card, we’re not sure how “mobile” it is, but it certainly is cool looking and high-tech as you can see from the buttons and mini display. The advantage of a physical card is it can work in more places than a phone. Mobile payments have also failed when it comes to annihilating the bulk in your back pocket with even the best of them-Samsung Pay -still not being a viable means for everyday shopping.

It would hold all your credit card in the one card, letting you choose between the cards with a low-power LCD screen and simple buttons, according to a report and image from Korean news site ETNews. LG is said to be working to find more partners to develop the “White Card”.
Instead of throwing the payment solution into a smartphone that uses either NFC or QR codes, LG Pay may actually be a universal credit card instead. I’d love for LG Pay to crack the payments enigma and seamlessly integrate into my life.
One interesting feature of the card is how it allows users to easily switch between cards when they need to pay for their purchases at retail shops. That’s a big +1 for convenience and security, but it reportedly doesn’t work with new chip readers, which is a bummer. We also heard that this card can be used on an ATM to withdraw cash.

At first glance, LG’s unreleased smart card doesn’t have any special features that we haven’t already seen in others.
